I have recently made a great door mat using the offcuts from our stair & landing carpet. I wish I hadn't thrown away the rest so I could have made a runner for the downstairs hall too. I had held on to the door-mat-size piece as it was useful for trudging in onto in the winter but it looked untidy. I put it through the washer on a half hour 30C cycle, dried it out on the line, then trimmed the edges straightish and just blanket stitched around the edges with three strands of thick acrylic yarn. It really looks pretty good! My husband remarked it looked like a bought door mat.
Still kicking myself for not saving a runner sized piece...

These alphablocks games are some of my youngest's favourite learning activities right now. They are great, really engaging and sweet, and Alphablocks were a great support when I was teaching my other children to read. Goodness knows, I am grateful for the BBC every day!
